Lauren Child talks to Madeleine Perham about one of her favourite characters of all time – Pippi Longstocking, the champion of childhood, joy and humour.

Lauren will discuss how she approached her illustration of Pippi and reveal what makes Pippi so special to her.

The talk will last for 50 minutes including questions from the audience.

Lauren is the former Children's Laureate and creator of the much-loved Clarice Bean and Charlie and Lola. She received a CBE in 2021 and her work is some of the most popular of her generation.

Madeleine is a script-writer, director and author. She wrote official stage adaptations for Philip Pullman's Ruby in the Smoke and Lauren Child's Ruby Redfort, and created the award-winning Girl Guides vs Aliens.

Madeleine balances her writing with tutoring and leading a Brownie pack in north London.

Recommended for ages 7+.

Ticket includes a seasonal refreshment and book signing by Lauren Child
