Currys' Long Live Your Tech Skip

As the UK is named one of the world’s largest producers of e-waste, Currys has today revealed that London and Birmingham are the worst e-waste offending cities in Great Britain.

Currys is on a mission to give tech a longer life, reduce landfill and educate the public on the importance of recycling and repairing or rehoming their old tech. Starting with the worst offending cities, Currys is going to place large pop-up tech recycling skips to urge Londoners and Brummies to spring clean and recycle their old tech responsibly.

The skip will be placed in these worst offending cities to encourage locals to bring any old, broken, or unused electronics to the skips in exchange for a voucher worth £5 to spend at Currys:

Currys commissioned YouGov to survey Brits and ask them why they do not recycle their unused tech. The survey found that:
- Almost a quarter (23%) of respondents with unused or ‘hoarded’ tech find recycling their electronics confusing or inconvenient
- With a further 21% admitting they don’t know how to dispose of e-waste responsibly
