A summer celebration of community and culture

Step inside the magical world of This Bright Land, transforming our magnificent courtyard into a wonderland open to all, with joyful day-and-night performances, music, dance, talks, workshops and more, platforming established creatives and grassroots communities.

Created by Somerset House Studios artists Gareth Pugh and Carson McColl, This Bright Land will put togetherness at its heart. From bold attractions including a 35m observation wheel and open-air Vogue Balls, staged in collaboration with Vogue Rites, to parties hosted by creative collectives and Sunday street parties, the festival seeks to encourage connection and collaboration through entertainment and play.

Every day is jam-packed with activity to discover and enjoy at This Bright Land.

Visit for free during the day Monday to Friday to experience beauty and wellness pop-ups from the likes of MAC and Jo Malone London, family film screenings from Everyman, as well as our story trails around the site. You can ride the 35m observation wheel, offering breath-taking views of London’s skyline, accompanied by a new audio commission exploring ideas of family, or sample the global street food market curated by Black Eats LDN.

We suggest you book a free ticket in advance, but you’re very welcome to walk up on the day with your friends and family.

On weekday evenings and Saturday daytimes, we offer a rich and engaging programme of talks, workshops, performances and film screenings that reflect the mission of This Bright Land. We’ll ask you to ‘pay what you can’ during these times.

Friday night is party night with an amazing line up of artists and community collectives performing each week. On Saturday Nights, the courtyard becomes a ballroom with a series of themed Vogue Balls with Vogue Rites. And on Sundays all the family are welcome at our inclusive street parties featuring performances, games and workshops. If you’d like to come to these events advance booking is required.
