Come and see the world’s first biodegradable school backpack now on display at HYPE.’s Flagship London store in Carnaby Street!
Created in partnership with the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) the eco-friendly backpack is made from a revolutionary leaf leather, called Treekind – developed by award-winning scientists at Biophilica. Every item – bar the zips which can be cut out and reused – is compostable. Once children are done with it, the school must-have can be donated to someone else or thrown into a compost bin where it will decompose in less than a year.
On display for a limited time only, head on down to the HYPE. store where you can see the backpack in its natural habitat, surrounded by luscious ferns, leaves and other plant materials.
The biodegradable backpack has been created to launch the IET’s new competition– ‘Backpack to the Future’. The competition challenges 5–13-year-olds to design their own futuristic backpack, with the winner having their design made into a working prototype for them to keep and will even get to see it displayed in this very same store in a few months’ time.
