A young man (Terence Nance) is stood up on a date by a beautiful woman (Namik Minter), he begins to wonder about the nature of feelings and what exactly makes up a specific moment in time.

Terence Nance’s hypnotic, strangely arresting debut film, An Oversimplification of Her Beauty is an odyssey exploring the labyrinthian dimensions of human connections. His recent, most ambitious work to date, HBO’s Random Acts of Flyness sees him breaking new ground with vivid odes to blackness, incorporating satire and blistering social commentary whilst still imbuing his work with surrealist elements.

The screening of Oversimplification of Her Beauty will be followed by a Director Q&A with Nance himself in conversation with Lucy Writers’ founding editor-in-chief Hannah Hutchings-Georgiou, exploring the weirdly polyphonic new worlds of a wildly unorthodox auteur.
