Johnny Campbell - True North

Johnny Campbell is passionate about the songs and stories of Northern England. Taking inspiration from traditional material, as well as penning new songs of his own, he explores what it means to be human today, as well as looking back at our history.

2024 sees Campbell releasing True North, an album of traditional northern folk songs recorded on their respective county summits. The album has already garnered press from Country Walking Magazine, Folk on Foot & BBC Radio 4 Open Country.

True North is a labour of love from acclaimed singer-songwriter Johnny Campbell, who has spent his career so far exploring the songs and stories of northern England. The release features collaborations with Liverpool virtuoso fiddle player, Mikey Kenney, and Northumbrian duo, The Brothers Gillespie.
