Queer East Festival is now celebrating its fifth year having made a visible mark in the UK with its bold programme of LGBTQ+ cinema and visual arts, growing in popularity and size year-on-year, supported by the BFI and taking place across London's major film institutions including BFI Southbank, Barbican, ICA, and more.

The film festival showcases stories from East Asia, Southeast Asia, and their diasporas, challenging stereotypes and offering fresh perspectives on the queer experience in these regions. Features this year include the UK Premiere of Opening Gala film A Song Sung Blue (China, 2023) nominated for the Queer Palm and Golden Camera at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, the World Premiere of documentary Love Bound (UK, 2024), screwball tragicomedy Asog (Philippines, 2023) from executive producers Adam McKay (Succession, The Big Short) and Alan Cumming (The Good Wife, Goldeneye). Plus retrospective screenings including the 20th Anniversary screening of Chinese-American romantic comedy Saving Face (USA, 2004) produced by Will Smith.

The festival also features short film programmes, a dance performance, poetry workshop, art exhibition, and for the first time an expanded programme featuring an immersive sauna screening, a screening followed by a guided nature walk at the Museum of the Home and so much more!

Queer East Festival 2024 takes place 17 - 28 April across venues in London.
