The outrageous 10k fun-run from The xFoundation and Prostate Action. The next event takes place on August 31st, 2013.
The Great Drag Race is a spectacular annual fundraising event that aims to radically increase the public's awareness of prostate cancer. Hundreds of men of all shapes and sizes descend on London, where they each walk or run for 10.2km wearing a wig and a frock in order to drag the issue into the spotlight. That's one long stride for each of the 10,200 men lost to the disease each year.
Yes, we did say frocks and wigs.
It’s a race in the loosest sense of the word. We welcome all abilities and fitness types, even if you can only do the final 10.2 metres. You just have to be a man and man enough to put on a frock to raise awareness of prostate cancer.
We've had to make a few changes for 2013, so this year it's going to get interesting…
It's gonna be a fun-filled, balls-to-the-wall goose chase, with a stonking after-party to match. Men of all ages, sizes and abilities are invited to take part in what we promise will be the most fun you can possibly have with (women's) clothes on.
But it's not all about the frocks. Prostate cancer kills over 10,000 men in the UK each year. That's one man every hour. Experts agree that many of these deaths could be avoided if men emulated women by talking more about their health issues, both privately and publicly. So come on chaps, you heard the experts. It's time to be more like women!
