A Journey Through West African Life & Tradition and beyond...
With West African roots - Nigeria, Liberia Ghana, Sierra Leon Ade is known predominantly in Africa for his artwork, his paintings hang today in the state house of Liberia (The Mansion) for the late president William R. Tolbert. Ade also spent years in Ghana working as an artist doing portraits for the dignitaries.
Ade’s style is unique to say the least, he uses a mixture of mediums including shells, and hand platted threads, materials, glues, pastels and paints. Each piece of work carries a story routed in West African life and tradition.
Ade is a man who has spent his life educating people in the music art and history of African people and he has fought for the rights of people everywhere.
In the UK and Europe Ade is best known for his music, having played with names such as Bob Marley, Fela Kuti, Lucky Dube, he was in a band and toured West Africa with Miatta Fahnbulleh, Mirum Makeba and Hugh Masekella. Having played in venues such as The Royal Albert Hall and the Barbican.
This work is a collection that reflects Ade's fascinating journeys trough West Africa and beyond.......
