Programme:
SIBELIUS: Karelia Suite
SIBELIUS: Violin Concerto
SIBELIUS: Symphony No. 5

Finland’s greatest orchestra takes us on a journey exploring the works of Finnish composer Jean Sibelius in this unique concert. The orchestra has explored, interpreted and performed Sibelius’ works on record and in concert throughout the USA, Europe and, of course, at its home in the Sibelius Hall in Finland.

Violinist Elina Vähälä, one of today’s most sought-after Finnish instrumentalists, joins the orchestra under the baton of conductor Okko Kamu, to play Sibelius’ hauntingly lyrical Violin Concerto.

'Elina Vahala’s playing was blinding, answering all the demands of the music in power, virtuosity and soft melancholy. A pure and poetic feeling in the violin tone and fiery involvement in the interpretation. Yes, it was absolutely brilliant...’ (Svenska Dagbladet)
