Epsom Hosts A Festival of Bank Holiday Fun

Epsom Downs Racecourse will once again be opening their gates for the popular totesport Family Fun Day on Monday 29th August, 2011. For the first time in the event’s history, Epsom will turn the event into ‘fun festival’ as it combines with the 2011 Epsom Racehorse Trainers’ Open Day on Sunday the 28th and a free raceday on Tuesday 30th August, 2011.

Sunday 28th August, 2011- EPSOM RACEHORSE TRAINERS' OPEN DAY

Adults £5 - Children 12-16 and OAP £3 - Under 12s Free
Get up close with a ‘behind the scenes’ experience to the racing. Supporting the Epsom Racing Staff Welfare, trainers will show horses at exercise on the gallops from approximately 9:00am on the famous Epsom Downs. From 10:00am to 1:00pm local yards will throw open their doors to the public with a complimentary bus service available for the whole morning.

Additionally as part of our Family Racing Festival, should you attend the Epsom Racehorse Trainers’ Open Day bring along your wrist band and you will gain admittance to our Family Fun Day for half price - £10 per adult and children under 18 accompanied by an adult go for free.

We have an action packed afternoon of thrilling racing complimented with activities for all the family.

Kicking off with the Shetland Pony Derby prior to racing and a parade of ex-racehorses in the paddock racegoers will also be treated to pony rides, hot shoeing demonstration, Horse carousel, rodeo bull, Pony-Hop races, petting zoo and tradestands selling something for everyone, making this one afternoon not to be missed.

In addition to the racing and activities no Family Fun Day at Epsom would be complete without the traditional children’s races, which take part along the race track with prizes for the winners and runners-up along with our autograph pit where you can have the chance to smile for the camera with your favorite jockey before each race.

The majority of entertainment will be located in the main enclosures however pony rides, the hot shoeing demonstration, children’s funfair and meet and greet the Hersham Greyhounds with take place on The Hill.
