The Centenary Company presents Ruddigore:
A cadre of moustache-twirling cads and bounders; a bevy of desperate bridesmaids; not one but two bad baronets, plus a gallery of their ghostly ancestors, and a host of other unsavoury and unsubtle characters!

The Centenary Company returns to Greenwich this November with Gilbert & Sullivan’s macabre musical melodrama, fully staged by ‘the most inventive director of G & S currently working in London'.

Under an ancient curse, the Bad Baronets of Ruddigore are condemned to commit a crime every day or perish in agony - so the rightful heir to the title has faked his death and is leading a life of rustic innocence, while his younger brother takes up the cudgels (quite literally) on his behalf. But what will his ghostly ancestors make of this dastardly subterfuge?

Featuring a moustache-twirling villain with a heart of gold; a square-jawed hero with a spine of jelly, and a demure heroine with an eye for the main chance. It’s wickedly funny entertainment!

Formed in 1995, the Centenary Company is a Greenwich-based community group specialising in the shows of Gilbert and Sullivan. Following a long association with Blackheath Halls, the Company has presented annual productions at Greenwich Theatre since 2006. With a 30-strong cast and a 13-piece live orchestra, Ruddigore reunites the creative team – director Jerry Pinel and music director Elinor Corp – behind last year’s hit production of Patience.
