Comedy Benefit for WAYout Arts with Mark Thomas, Mark Steel, Josie Long, Isy Suttie, John Hegley and more!

WAYout (Worldwide Arts For Youth) works in some of the most deprived areas and poorest countries across the world, working alongside disadvantaged young people with an interest in the arts and helping them to have access to and take part in music, film, the arts and media. The charity provides access to facilities, resources and training to allow young people to express themselves through creativity, and supporting them into further education and training.

Hazel Chandler, who helped her son Michael found the charity, says “What is most striking to me, and keeps me going back again and again, is that we are working with young people who have not only survived the unimaginable but who are strong and eager to grab hold of the opportunities offered to them. It is such a privilege to work with them and they have changed my life and given me much more than I could possibly give back”.

A patron of the charity, Mark Thomas asks: “Why should someone who lives on the streets not dream of being a filmmaker or musician? Just because someone lives in a refugee camp does not mean they cease to be creative and artistic human beings. If anything it is the opposite. And for that reason alone I love this project”. And so some of the greatest minds in comedy are coming together on Friday 4th November for a special benefit at the Bloomsbury Theatre to help raise money to fund an arts centre in Sierra Leone. Hosted by Mark Thomas himself, he will be joined by the brilliant likes of Mark Steel, Josie Long, Isy Suttie and John Hegley... it truly will be a night not to be missed!
