The Original Exhibition (Tottering-by-Gently)

The O’Shea Gallery and its owner Raymond O’Shea will be hosting an exhibition to enter into a new year with even more Tottering-by-Gently fun and laughter. In August 2011 Annie Tempests 900th Tottering-by-Gently strip for Country Life was published; marking the continuation of a longstanding and unique collaboration that has become part of our national heritage. Annie Tempest began her now internationally acclaimed cartoon strip, Tottering-by-Gently, in 1993 and has since, eloquently depicted the lives of Dicky and Daffy at their stately home ‘Tottering Hall’. Her own experiences of growing up at Broughton Hall in Yorkshire have been the inspiration for this, themes of which range from dinner parties at Tottering Hall to Dicky and Daffy trying their hand at yoga.

The exhibition itself boasts a collection of some of Annie’s finest works which include specially commissioned works never before seen in Country Life magazine as well as pieces from the Christmas collection. Further original works on display are a selection of some of the most sought after pieces from a private collection, incorporating elaborate detail and the familiar Tottering humour.

The exhibition will be held at The O’Shea Gallery, No 4. St. James’s Street, London, SW1A 1EF from Friday 18th November to Friday 2nd December 2011. Guests will be welcomed during gallery opening hours from Monday to Friday from 9.30am till 6pm and Saturdays from 10am till 4pm with various opportunities to meet the artist and laugh out loud over more of Dicky and Daffy’s daily totterings.
