A Comedy Festival in a day. The Comedy School presents a day of workshops and discussions for performers, producers, writers and comedy enthusiasts from a selection of Britain's top comedy talent. This is the 12th Funny Festival, and every year it goes from strength to strength. Contributors include many of our popular and stalwart supporters, as well as some new faces, representing a wealth of experience in all aspects of the comedy world.

Leading sessions will be held by: Arnold Brown, Roland Muldoon, Ivor Dembina, Mick Barnfather (Theatre de Complicite), Neil Mullarkey (The Comedy Store Players), Louise Grainger and Mike Day (Equity), Adam Bloom, Felix Dexter, Steve Bennett from Chortle, Luke Sorba, Anya Noakes (publicist), Nicky Bligh Casting formerly BBC Comedy Casting and Rob Grant, creator of Red Dwarf

Workshops on offer include: Stand-Up Comedy, How to Get Started in Comedy, Comedy Casting, Improvisation, Clowning, Producing New Comedy Initiatives, The History of Alternative Comedy, Audition Technique.

The day will end with guest Stephen Mangan actor who is best known for his roles as Guy Secretan in two series of Green Wing, Dan Moody in I’m Alan Partridge, Holistic Detective Dirk Gently in the BBC adaptation of Douglas Adams’ book and as Sean Lincoln in Episodes opposite Matt LeBlanc and Tamsin Greig in discussion with Neil Mullarkey, a slot popularly filled in the past by Andy Hamilton, Hugh Dennis, Paul Merton, Ben Miller, Phill Jupitus, Arthur Smith, Felix Dexter, Josie Lawrence and Neil Morrissey.

The Comedy School is the only arts organisation of its kind in the UK which works with comedy and performance in many different settings ranging from prisons to the ICA. Founded in 1998 by Director Keith Palmer, it aims to raise the profile of the many uses of comedy from stimulating personal creativity to developing social skills.
