‘Songs of Faith and Sacrifice’ is the first project of the Polish Artists in London collective, a group uniting Polish artists from the fields of theatre, music, literature, photography, film and visual arts, all working and creating in London (www.pail.org.uk - coming soon)


‘Songs of Faith and Sacrifice’ shows scenes from the every-day life of Piotr and Anna – an average, thirty-something couple from a big city. Peter 'does not need to believe in anything, to get up in the morning and take the rubbish out'. Anna is searching for a spiritual guidance. One day, their seven-year-old son Igor, faints at school. From that moment on, their days are filled with dreadful emptiness and hours spent waiting for the test results . Mariusz, Anna’s parish priest and friend, leaves her the rosary, while a prostitute – Agnieszka, leaves something more than just scratch marks on Piotr’s neck.

Przemyslaw Wojcieszek, the author of the ‘Songs of Faith and Sacrifice’, is one of the most interesting and controversial of contemporary play writers in Poland. He was awarded with an acclaimed award for young, Polish artist - Paszport “Polityki” for his film 'Perfect Afternoon' in 2005. He also won a prize for his play ‘Made in Poland’, which was transferred to a feature film in 2011. ‘Songs of Faith and Sacrifice’ was first published in 2010 in ‘Dialog’- a contemporary dramaturgy magazine. This will be its world premiere.
