Khalid likes football, hip hop, computer games and has a huge crush on a girl in his class - like any other teenage boy. But being a Muslim in the aftermath of 9/11 can be very dangerous. Snatched in the middle of the night he is thrown into a nightmare world in which he is presumed guilty. Alone, afraid and far from home, will he have the strength to survive?
“The detention of young people, as well as adults, held indefinitely without trial is a story of our time as we approach Guantanamo Bay’s 10th anniversary. Despite President Obama's Election pledge to close the detention centre, it remains fully operational. We believe it is vitally important that young people, in particular, have the opportunity to engage with this legacy. It’s especially appropriate that the world premiere is taking place at Stratford Circus Arts Centre, located in one of the country’s most diverse boroughs." Director, Dominic Hingorani.
