Sofia The Show in Bow

Sofia the Show is a devised auto-biographical performance, where the audience is invited to Sofia’s birthday party at her place. The piece is developed and performed in the personal space of the performer’s house, creating a unique sense of authenticity and intimacy.

Amongst bagpipe and banjo players, cats and dogs, Sofia plays her part in this eccentric house share in Bow, full of history, grand pianos and first editions.

In this birthday party expect cake, wine, music and bittersweet reminiscing of years passed, in a party like any other, but not quite...

Sofia the Show is a collage of stories, images, music and dance... smells, tastes, tears and balloons...

After the play’s success at Stratford Circus in 2010, director Marianne Lorentzen and performer Sofia Marques established Bacalao Performance Company, with a focus on creating new and relational performance work in personal and intimate spaces.

Sofia the Show is their second production as a company. With a "powerful honesty at its heart", this intimate piece brings performer and audience closer together.
