Will the legacy of the London Olympics be exploited garment workers and the marginalisation of local communities?
Join War on Want, Battersea & Wandsworth Trades Union Council and East London community groups for a day of discussion and workshops on how we can stop the Olympic dream becoming a nightmare.
Speakers from TUC, National Garments Workers Federation (Bangladesh) and others. Workshops on:
+ Building solidarity and better links with Bangladeshi garment workers
+ Taking the fight to the sportswear companies
+ The impact of global sporting events on local communities
In addition a local lunchtime walking tour will be offered covering historic East London sweatshops, strikes and garment workers unions, local Bangladeshi community sites and much more.
Lunch and refreshments will be provided for a small donation.
