Andrew Curtis’ new work at PayneShurvell utilizes the photographic image to critique the suburban experience. Curtis uses ink and enamel paint to cut and edit photolithographic images appropriated from domestic improvement manuals and houseplant brochures. It is the details that remain in Curtis’ work that form new images of suburban dissonance by blurring physical and psychological reality.
