Direct from the National Theatre.
In 1941, the huge popularity of his poem Wait For Me projected Konstantin Simonov into the literary stratosphere of the Soviet Union. But what was the price of becoming Stalin’s favourite writer? Years later, now ageing and unwell, Simonov looks back on a lifetime as part of Stalin’s Soviet elite and confronts his demons.
Adapted from Orlando Figes’ ground-breaking book The Whisperers, Stalin’s Favourite provides an emotionally engaging personal human insight into momentous historical events.
