What a great night out! - I attend a lot of stand up comedy gigs and often feel disappointed with the experience and feel some clubs have no passion for comedy or interest in looking after their audience as well as being badly organised and overpriced. None of the above apply here! The welcome is warm and it is reasonably priced and clearly well run by people who clearly care about comedy and their audience.
The compere - A new Zealander by the name of Benjamin Crellin was awesome and held everything together fantastically well. Great sets also from Erich Mcelroy and Owen Niblock (who is definitely one to watch - I was in stitches!) The night was rounded off with a superb headline set from Shazia Mirza.
All in all I had a great night in a lovely venue (The Empire Casino, Leicester sq.) and came away with a warm glow and my faith renewed that there are comedy clubs out there who care about comedy and their audience.
