British Gas Great London Swim

Why not join us at the British Gas Great London Swim on Saturday May 26th at the Royal Victoria Docks,for your chance to have a go at open water swimming - one of the fastest growing Olympic Sports!


A unique opportunity to experience open water swimming in the heart of the Capital, the one mile swim is a brilliant challenge for all abilities from first timers to world champions and gives spectators and supporters the chance to follow swimmers all around the course.

Waves of around 300 set off throughout the day from 09:00 to 15:30, giving you the opportunity to experience the thrill of open water swimming, safe in the knowledge expert kayakers and safety boats are with you every stroke of the way.

You might even see one of Team GB’s best medal hopes, Keri-Anne Payne, who will be using the British Gas Great London Swim as a test event ahead of her bid to bring home the gold.

Your £38 entry includes chip timing, event pack, official t-shirt and that all important medal.

Last year around 5,000 people took to the Thames and became part of the UKs favourite open water swimming series – more than 20,000 took part in five British Gas Great Swim events staged in urban docks, rivers and lochs throughout the country.
