As the quintessentially English hotel, The Capital certainly knows how to serve a scrumptious afternoon tea. Over the years, this perennially popular offering has become a firm favourite with hotel guests and weary shoppers alike.
It seems however that word has spread, with the news that this Knightsbridge favourite has received the Tea Guild’s Award of Excellence for Top London Afternoon Tea 2012, alongside such other hallowed institutions as Claridge’s, The Savoy and The Ritz.
Judged by a team of undercover inspectors, these prestigious awards are bequeathed only on those establishments that show the greatest commitment to tea service.
Served daily in The Sitting Room between 2.30pm and 5.30pm, The Capital’s Afternoon Tea comprises a choice of teas, infusions or fresh coffee, a delicious selection of delicate sandwiches, freshly baked pastries courtesy of The Capital’s own brilliant pâtissier, Arnaud Tualand, home-made scones served with clotted cream and The Capital’s own jams, preserves and compotes. The price is just £25.00 per person or £37.50 per person to include a glass of chilled Jacquart champagne.
