The last Rootikal until August, so they've pulled out all of the stops to bring you two very heavy hitting guests, Mad Professor and Aba Shanti I.

Mad Professor has been a key player on the UK reggae scene for a long time now - with his Ariwa label that started in the mid 80s, and the studio, which has seen some of the best UK reggae recorded and mixed. He'll be bringing his desk to Rootikal and will be running mixes live, focussing on the roots side of things, with Dego Ranks on mic duties. It's a serious show when Mad Professor is in the mix and we're proud to welcome him to Rootikal.

Up after Mad Professor is Rootikal regular, Aba Shanti I. Anyone that's has been to Carnival, University of Dub or the Blue Note sessions in the mid 90s, will be familiar with the powerful spiritual music played in an Aba Shanti I selection. From the early days when he deejayed with Jah Tubby's sound, through to recording with his brother Blood Shanti, and to playing with his live band, The Shanti-Ites, one thing is a constant and that is the unique vibe that he brings to the dance.

Setting the scene in the basement will be Rootikal residents Stuart Patterson and Mr Faso with Earl Gateshead, who's now back from his travels, while upstairs, the lounge will been handed over to SKA LAvin for the revival sounds of 60 Jamaica. SKA LAvin is Tiny T, Asher G and Oxman, all serious aficionados, and together with Rootikal's David Hill they'll be laying down the best in Ska and Rocksteady.
