Three East London artists show their diverse approaches to the linked theme of a connection with nature.
Each artist has explored concepts that relate to the natural environment within their work, whether it be studies directly from nature, telling the story of a landscape, or taking inspiration from the unpredictability of organic growth.
The works are also connected in an elemental way through their use of natural materials that are integral to the creative process: the charcoal utilized by Karen Colley is formed through fire, the clay in Frank Jennings’ ceramics is the very stuff of the earth, and the fuidity of form in the paintings of David Ross are made possible through the water in his paint pallet.
