For this intimate event, in the beautiful surroundings of a wooden Spiegeltent on Blackheath, four musicians from the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment will be joined by a guest vocalist for an evening of baroque music rooted in London. The concert will include pieces by composers such as Henry Purcell, Matthew Locke, John Blow and Thomas Arne. Arne achieved lasting fame of course as the composer of Rule, Britannia! We hope our tally of Medals at the Games by this point will merit a rendition of this…

The event follows on from a hugely successful tour of London pubs by The Night Shift earlier this year, and tonight’s special gig, as part of the Lewisham Big Screen, is given as the eyes of the world are upon London and presents some of the very best music to have come out of this great city.
