The Fourth Before The Gold Rush night takes place Saturday July 21 at The Wilmington Arms, London. Doors at 7.30pm.

Confirmed acts: Long Dead Kings, The Glue Ensemble, Jack Day

Jack Day

Jack Day was born and grew up in Hornsey, north London. He got his start listening to Otis Redding and Glen Campbell records and catching as many Billy Childish shows as possible during the Dirty Water Club residencies.

Returning to London from a stint in Brighton running a soul and garage club, Jack hit the vibrant London americana scene and has since built a strong home town following based on his formidable live shows and song-writing ability.

In 2011 he took over the running of the renowned Lantern Society (at Clerkenwell’s Betsey Trotwood PH, in partnership with Benjamin Folke Thomas), curated a sold-out show at the Gaymers Camden Crawl and toured with Trevor Moss & Hannah Lou (Heavenly Recordings).

Jack kicked off 2012 with a series of London-based shows, before joining a.h.a.b. (Navigator Records) on their UK tour.

He is currently putting the final touches to his highly-anticipated debut album recorded by Brian O’Shaugnessy at Bark Studios (Primal Scream, Beth Orton, Denim) in London. The album is due for release later this year.

The Glue Ensemble

Alternative acoustic music from London and Paris.

The Glue Ensemble are the sound of slipping away before everyone else wakes. The Glue Ensemble are the feeling of a train journey back to where you grew up. The Glue Ensemble are the sound of tea-time at a funeral.

Players currently include Mr.Z Ahmad on bass, banjo and singing, Ms.L Chevalier on viola and violin, Mr.B Blaine on guitar, banjo, piano and singing and Ms.C Lodge on Cello.

Due to circumstances beyond their control, when The Glue Ensemble finally met it sounded like this.

“…as if Badly Drawn Boy, Iron and Wine and Damien Rice got mutated together in some horrendous scientific accident gone terribly well…” – Kerriann Curtis, IndieMusicReviewer.com

“…delightful, engaging, quietly powerful music, oozing charm…” – The Analogue Club “…unbelievable orchestration, a soothing violin and acoustic guitar playing off … perfect vocals.” -ThisBonusTrack

Long Dead Kings

Formed in late 2010, Long Dead Kings are one third rootsy lullabies, one third dark country noir and er… another third valve pushing folk rock.

Occupying a large 19th century church in Crouch End, North London, the band comprises three multi-instrumentalist (they swap around sometimes) songwriters, a campaigning rhythm section and no one single questionably principled front man.

As you read this from the comfort of your home or office or school or prison cell, the band is most likely out there somewhere like Kilburn, slogging away, entertaining the whiskey-sodden masses with music and songs and words.

The band released their first full album in 2011, and previously worked with producers at London based artist development outfit The Animal Farm.

Main influences include The Band, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Richard Thompson, John Martyn, The Byrds, Gram Parsons, CSNY, Nick Cave, Johnny Cash, REM, Radiohead, My Morning Jacket, Fleet Foxes, The Low Anthem, Midlake, AA Bondy, The Decemberists, Mumford & Sons and many more.
