Another epic scale project from this ever-resourceful and imaginative band.

Piramida is the title of their new album, due for release by 4AD label later this year. The music on the record originated from and was informed by a special expedition undertaken by the band in 2011 - about which they have yet to share any details or information.

Together for more than a decade, Danish band Efterklang have constantly pushed the boundaries of pop experimentalism over the course of three critically acclaimed albums. This desire to experiment has informed their approach to live performances, garnering the band plaudits for playing in diverse settings – whether alongside the Danish National Chamber Orchestra and the Britten Sinfonia (‘Performing Parades Tour’) or in the company of family members (for Vincent Moon’s An Island documentary).

To play the music from their forthcoming album Piramida, Efterklang have engaged classical arrangers Missy Mazzoli (Kronos Quartet, Victoire), Karsten Fundal (Under Byen, Oh Land) and Daníel Bjarnason (Sigur Rós, Múm) to help their new songwriting fully integrate with the 35-piece Northern Sinfonia, conducted by André de Ridder.

For this special concert, the Danish trio will be performing as a six-piece, augmented by Peter Broderick (piano), Katinka Fogh Vindelev (choir) and a special guest drummer whose identity will be announced later!
