Bach Motets, a music and contemporary dance collaboration

A new baroque music and contemporary dance collaboration in which, uniquely, singers are placed right at the centre of a contemporary dance piece. In collaboration with contemporary dance choreographer Julia Pond, the baroque music ensemble The Musicall Compass conducted by Crispin Lewis gives the premiere of a new and original production of the J.S Bach Motets. The Motets will be sung one-to-part and a capella by eight singers, who will share the stage-space with two dancers. The choreography, uniquely will involve both dancers and singers, whilst they perform Bach's stunning and often virtuosic music. The splendid setting of St John's Smith Square will be used in imaginative ways, the performers utilising the whole space: gallery, stage and aisles.
