A powerful play written to stimulate a panel Q&A about violence against women, with domestic abuse experts

Created by the Italian award winning writer, Dacia Maraini, (currently nominated for the Nobel Prize for Literature) to put the subject of violence against women on the global stage. The play is performed worldwide in many different languages and she has added a story especially for the UK production.

“With hurried footsteps these women flee from pain and discrimination...” Dacia Maraini

Inspired by testimonies from Amnesty International, the powerful and stark no-frills performance is devised to stimulate the Q&A.

Directed by Nicolette Kay, Translated by Sharon Wood and produced by New Shoes Theatre, in association with the Finborough Theatre, the production has toured Nationally each November for the past three years to coincide with “16 Days” of activism to end violence against women.

“The stories are hair-raising…..this is an important step… small as it is... to raise the consciousness of the world to this endless existing problem. It’s BEAUTIFUL work from the Finborough, the actors, director and designers..” Blanche Marvin, London Theatreviews

“You cannot help but feel sadness at the stories, and that makes you want to go out and do something.” Jafa Iqbal, EXTRA! EXTRA!

Tickets are free on a first come served basis. There will be a retiring collection for the local Women’s Refuge.
