Celebrating the archive of Stratford’s 3 Mills Studios with film screenings, parties, set tours, creative workshops and talks from the people behind the films.

In an area of London that has been under intense spotlight all summer, Made in 3 Mills Film Festival presents a four-day programme of screenings, talks and workshops to celebrate the extraordinary legacy of London’s film-industry, thriving just a stone’s throw from the Olympic Park. The success of 3 Mills Studios continues as Tim Burton’s animation Frankenweenie, made at the Studios, has been selected as the gala opening screening for the BFI’s 56th London Film Festival.

Produced collaboratively between neighbours, Sugarhouse Studios and 3 Mills Studios, the Made in 3 Mills Film Festival will showcase feature films shot at 3 Mills Studios and on location around the east end of London, as well as shorts and TV shows from the capital. The screenings and events will take place in three Stratford locations.

Animation and sound engineering workshops, director Q&As and panel discussions will compliment specific screenings and visitors will be treated to a unique opportunity to watch some of Britain’s most exciting films of the last decade, screened in the very place they were made.

• Enjoy a drink in the prison set used in ill Manors
• Find out how animators brought Frankenweenie, Fantastic Mr Fox and The Corpse Bride to life
• Discover how film sound effects are made, before watching a terrifying example of life imitating art in Berberian Sound Studio
• Indulge in authentic Bangladeshi cuisine before watching Brick Lane
• Short films selected by London Short Film Festival will precede each feature film
