The Opera Group’s new show, The Firework-Maker’s Daughter, is based on the book of the same name by acclaimed children’s author Philip Pullman. Drawing inspiration from the East Asian setting of the book, the show combines vivid storytelling, Indonesian-style puppetry, projection and physical theatre.
The production is brought to life by award winning composer David Bruce, poet and dramatist Glyn Maxwell and director John Fulljames.
This special preview, ahead of a national and international tour in 2013, will feature live music from the opera and a talk with members of the creative team. Steve and Sally Tiplady, from puppet company Indefinite Articles, will demonstrate how they will create the magical effects of the story on stage.
Suitable for all ages.
