Lambeth residents are being encouraged to join a free community bike ride on Sunday 21st October, giving them the chance to build-up their road confidence while exploring their borough.

The two-hour “Lambeth by Bike” event from Barclays – sponsor of Barclays Cycle Hire and Barclays Cycle Superhighways – is being led by Lambeth Cyclists, the Lambeth branch of the London Cycling Campaign (LCC).

Following a free bike check, the two-hour ride on 21st October will start at 2pm from the entrance to the Garden Museum, by Lambeth Bridge, SE1. The ride will showcase well known and hidden places of interest in Waterloo and Vauxhall, including the birthplace of the Circus, London’s graffiti gallery, and the true centre of London.

The free ride on Sunday 21st October will bring the community together and promote safer cycling and the wider benefits of travelling by bike. All people in Lambeth need to do is email the names of those attending and the ride date to [email protected] and bring their bike, snacks and a drink on the day. In return, participants will receive a free bike check, a ‘goody bag' from Barclays and an afternoon finding out what their part of the capital has to offer.

Barclays are proud to support “Lambeth by Bike” as it allows residents to explore their local area and gain confidence riding on the road. Riders of all ages are welcome on the rides, but under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.

Suzy Harrison of Lambeth Council: “Lambeth is a great borough to explore by bike and we hope that people will get a chance to experience it with these rides. By coming along on the 21st October we hope local people can gain confidence on the road while having a fun day out.”
