Join us on a festive journey through an emporium of edible sensations. Explore a fusion of food and drink, agriculture, medicine and more at this feast of hands-on research.

17.00 – 20.00: Hands-on demos, activities and games in the College Main Entrance. Drop-in at any time.
Activities Include:

• A confectionary masterpiece, lick your lips on sugared brussells sprouts, a Victoria sponge Christmas turkey, and a myriad of other edible delights from Miss Cakehead herself
• CO2 sorbet from a fire extinguisher? What else will professor of thermodynamics, Erich Muller concoct?
• Sample and design your own bespoke seasonal drinks with Imperial chemist turned apothecary, Alchemists Dreams
• Get your hands dirty with demos from the Biotechnology and Biosciences Research Council’s (BBSRC) Field to Fork exhibition on global food security
• Taste the difference with Imperial’s very own honey, and find out about life in the hive with Daniella Mcmanamon.
• What is the cost of your Christmas dinner? Where does it come from, and how can we celebrate sustainably? With Thought for Food winner from the Centre for Environmental Policy, Slavi Georgieva
• Taste miracle berries to turn sour into sweet, and see how a microwave unveil all manner of our food’s weird and wonderful properties. With science busker Simon Foster
• What happens with our leftovers? Witness digestion, composting and even biogas with some wiggly worms to boot with Professor of bioresource systems, Stephen Smith.
• Visit Imperial’s very own fertilizer making machine, the Compod, designed by Imperial Engineers with Nic Dent.
