This winter a touch of Pan-Asian sophistication arrives in Kensington in the form of Naga. An Oriental restaurant and bar, Naga combines a chic and contemporary décor with a warm and welcoming atmosphere making it a neighbourhood gem that people will travel from near and far to visit.

In the brief period since it has been previewing, Naga has already won Best Chinese Restaurant in London at the prestigious Asian Curry Awards which recently took place at Grosvenor House and were attended by some of the leading luminaries of London’s culinary world, as well as other notable politicians and celebrities.

Located a stone’s throw from one of London’s most stylish shopping areas, High Street Kensington, Naga is the brainchild of Eddy Lim who has over thirty years experience in the restaurant world, with previous projects including Paper Tiger, Tai Pan and Deals Restaurant. Eddy has partnered with one of London’s top mixologists, Tri Van Dang, who created the famous Flaming Ferrari cocktail, before becoming Manager at Mahiki and then setting up South Kensington’s acclaimed Brompton Club.

On arrival guests can enjoy a cocktail at the bar which features a unique mottled glass front beautifully uplit in hues of pink, red and amber, Oriental prints adorning the walls and comfortable velour seating. From there they enter the restaurant area, split over two floors mezzanine style and covered by a glass roof offering a stunning view of the night sky in the evenings and flooding the room with attractive light during the daytime. The restaurant truly has the feel of an exotic paradise with lush foliage, decorative red silk screens embossed with Chinese script and mirrored walls lending a sense of spaciousness and depth to the room.

Indonesian born Executive Chef Fachri Syarief has created a menu with a particular emphasis on Modern Chinese and Vietnamese cuisine. Talented Syarief has worked at some of the best Asian restaurants in London, including Gilgamesh and Cocochan and won best Pan-Asian Chef 2011. His skill is reflected in the menu, with starters including the signature Silken Tofu with Ginger Dressing, Vine Leaves stuffed with Chargrilled Beef (Bo La Lot), Lotus Root with Prawns Salad and Duck and Watermelon Salad. Guests can enjoy a selection of mouthwatering mains such as Thit Bo Kho, A Vietnamese Mild Beef Curry, Slow-cooked Pork Belly with Crackling on Asian Mash, Mongolian Lamb Cutlets, Five Spice Crispy Duck and Canton Style Lobster Noodles. Sides that perfectly complement include Baby Spinach and Goji Berries in Broth and Kai Lan with Shaoxing Wine and Ginger. Naga also serves an extremely reasonable Express Lunch Menu with dishes such as Bento Boxes, Asian Salads and Noodle Soups starting from £9.90.

Tri has also created the perfect range of innovative cocktails that cannot fail to delight with signature drinks including; Naga Fire Bowl, a potent mix of Don Alvero Tequila, Agave Syrup, Lime Juice, Fresh Chilli and Ginger, the Sake and Tonic Martini, the Chinese Mojito, a refreshing blend of Sake, Mint, Basil. Sugar Cane Syrup and Lime Juice. For a fun sharing option, try The Chinese Tea Cup made with Grey Goose La Poire shaken with Pear, Elderflower Cordial, Lemon Juice, topped up with Pink Champagne and served in a teapot with teacups. The restaurant also serves a great selection of international wines and sake, with house wine starting at £14.90.

Naga has a private room that can cater for seated events of up to 14 people and up to 25 standing. Whether it be business drinks, a cocktail party or sit down dinner they will create a bespoke menu and decorate the room whatever the occasion.
