Florence Nightingale Shore was a relative and god-daughter of Florence Nightingale. Like her famous relative, she was an army nurse, working in South Africa in the second Boer war, and in France during the Great War. But Florence Shore’s life ended suddenly and violently when she was assaulted on a train in suburban England in 1920. This illustrated talk will tell the astonishing true story of the unsolved murder of Florence Nightingale Shore. Who was the ‘man in the brown suit’, that the police were so keen to interview? Was Percy Toplis, known as ‘the monocled mutineer’, really involved? And can a new, shocking theory, proposed on the internet in the last five years, possibly be true?

This intriguing Edwardian murder mystery talk is presented by Rosemary Cook, author of the award winning book The Nightingale Shore Murder.
