Burberry's Personalisation Service

Love London

If, like every fashion fan in the known universe, you found yourself lusting after Burberry Prorsum's beautifully personalised blanket ponchos after an army of models paraded them down the catwalk at the close of its AW14 LFW show, read on, for as of Wednesday one can be yours.

With a long history of capes and blankets, the Burberry Heritage archive has evidence of them dating back as far as the 1880s. The new AW14 collection maintain the warmth and protection for which the archive designs were celebrated, whilst also taking inspiration from the traditional equestrian blanket, with blanket-stitched edging and a warm and hardwearing textured feel.

Motifs used on the blanket poncho designs are inspired by the British countryside, the Bloomsbury set of artists and the works of Ben Nicholson. Designs are relaxed, comfortable and easy to wear. Cut as a simple square with a front slit, the A/W14 womenswear poncho sits over the shoulders and falls asymmetrically over the body, leaving the arms to move freely, featuring graphic geometric patterns, leaf and thistle motifs and the classic House check overlaid with bold blocks of colour. Created on a jacquard loom, the blanket designs feature complex patterns that originate from hand-painted artworks, while edges are hand- finished with traditional blanket stitching.

From Wednesday 3rd September, the AW14 collection of ponchos and heritage scarves - included the blanket style pictured above (£895) - can be personalised with your own initials. Visit the Burberry flagship store on Regent Street for further information.
