Independence Day Parties

We round up some of the capital's best Independence Day parties. Burgers. ribs, JD, Bud, Springsteen, you know the drill...

London, being the international hub that it is, will be providing parties across town for American Independence Day on July 4th. We’ll be getting wrapped up in our star spangled banner and heading out for Friday’s celebrations. Don’t stay in and watch Will Smith welcoming aliens to Earth by punching them, head to one of these nights in the capital instead.

Blues Kitchen
News of a marching band and a hot dog eating competition was all it took to sell us on the idea of celebrating American independence at the Blues Kitchen in Shoreditch. However, as well as people stuffing their faces with hotdogs as fast as possible there will also be live music from Marcus Bonfanti and DJs spinning vintage rock and roll all night.

Honky Tonk
America Needs You… to head to Honky Tonk and celebrate the Land of the Free. Both branches (Clapham and Chelsea) will be getting into the spirit of things with American fancy dress, live American rock and fireworks. As an American bar, we’re expecting a lot from Honky Tonk.

Crawdaddy Boil at The Liquor Store
For an epic all day feast of Americana we can see no better place to be than the Liquor Store in Dalston for the 1st bi-annual Crawdaddy Boil. Kicking off at 2pm and running till late, the day involves an all you can eat crawdaddy boil, lageritas (that’s a lager and margarita mix to you and me), live music, World Cup football and cheerleaders. Early bird tickets are available through the Liquor Store and cost £30.

The White Horse American Beer Festival
Live music, American BBQ and a weekend long American Beer Festival, The White Horse in Parson’s Green is a pub that knows what people want on Independence Day. The festival will be showing off a variety of new American beers as well as classic favourites. Combine your love for beer and country here on Friday 4th July.

Benjamin Franklin House Independence Day Party
For those interested in a historical slant on the celebrations there is always the prospect of cake and champagne at Benjamin Franklin House. The building is one of the last remaining ‘Franklin Houses’ in the world and was a place where the great statesman lived and worked prior to the American Revolution. The event costs £8 and comes with a weighty sense of history attached to it.
