Soak up the spirit of a venue that represents Soho

The theatre bar, a place to catch stars on the rise, stars on the down low and a place in which to drink and feel a touch more sophisticated than usual – or is that just me? Theatre bars are great, but the Soho Theatre Bar is a little greater than most. This is the type of theatre bar where you can wait like a fan to mingle with the actors, comedians and performers you’ve just seen. Now tell me, when was the last time Jason Statham stopped by a cinema bar after his film? That’s right, never, he can’t because he’s not really there…

There is something a little bit ‘alive’ about a theatre bar and I really do love the one at the Soho Theatre. It may be a simple proposition - music, big windows, fairly pedestrian selection of beers – but it is in the heart of Soho and it’s busy nightly. Plus, you can even buy a membership that allows you late night drinking (and deals on tickets) all year for only £50! You can bump into all sorts of people, catch occasional entertainment and generally soak up the spirit of a venue that represents Soho. Cutting edge in parts, classic and inclusive. If you want food then a range of burgers and bagels is served in the evenings and if you’re up and out early enough the bar also offers breakfast and lunch.

Like drinking at somewhere like the BFI or the ICA, drinking at the Soho Theatre Bar offers a connection to the city and reminds you why you choose to live without a garden, why you pay extortionate amounts for public transport and why you put up with paying rent that is forever edging closer towards what you actually earn. The Soho Theatre is the kind of place that can even cause a reviewer to convince himself that £50 for a year’s membership to a theatre bar is a good deal…
