we've been eating here for 20 years and its the only place we will go to for a curry. Almost always have kebabs and chicken tikka to start followed by chicken and veg curry. Never disappoints. Reasonably priced and staff always remember you (even if they are relative new. It does get busy - but then that's the price for being great. Off there tonight - can't wait Fiona and David

We have been here twice now and will never go again. The first time we went the food was well below standard. The second time we booked a table for 8pm. When we got there we were told they were too busy to honour our booking. The manager was arrogant and couldnt have cared less that we had actually booked a table. In fact he was nothing short of rude. There are much better Pakistani restaurants in the area. TOTALLY OVERRATED

I ate in this restaurant yesterday, having previously eaten there 13 years ago when I worked nearby. The food was superb and every bit as good as I remembered. The staff were friendly and attentive. The food was served quickly and both the starters and main course were to die for. I was so full I was unable to try the desserts which also looked good. I also had a very pleasent surprise when the bill arrived. The prices are cheap for the standard of meal provided. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting to taste authentic Pakistani food, not the type served to westerners in some restaurants.

I have been eating at this restaurant since 1989. I have eaten at many others over the years but have yet to find a Byrani as good. The portions are large and the prices reasonable. The staff are generally very pleasant. They occasionally have new waiters who get hopelessly lost but generally the staff are welcoming and efficient. This is an extremely popular restaurant so the wait for a table can be a bit lengthy at times. When I visit with my disabled father we are usually seated very quickly.

I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.

I cannot express how disapointed we were with this place. Having dined at Tayyabs previously we were excited to try some similarly delicious Pakistani cuisine. From the moment we arrived the experience was unpleasent. Having a 3-quid bottle of water thrust upon us within seconds of sitting down was just the starter. We asked to replace this with tap water which was done but not without a glare of disapproval. Our server was the rudest waiter we've ever come across. We asked for some guidance on the menu (no desciptions of dishes are provided) and he barked some sort of response back which didn't resemble English and slammed the menu down on the table. In the end we went for the Karahi chicken and a mixed veg curry. Within about 2 minutes the food arrived with no words or eye contact made from our server. The veg curry was without doubt the WORST curry dish I have ever tasted. Caulifower, carrots and whatever else was in it (couldn't identify it) cooked to buggery in a few drops of a watery 'sauce'. The karahi chicken sauce had great flavour but was lathered in oil. Pilau rice was watery and had zero flavour. Garlic nan bread was thick doughy and had burnt garlic leaving a nasty bitter flavour on the palate. Without doubt the worst meal I have had in a supposed restaurant. The bill was given to us, again without a word spoken or eye contact made.
The worst part is that he was friendly to the guy sat on the next table. Maybe it should say no whites on the door as that's the impression we got...

Lahore is extraordinary. I have eaten in at least 300 Asian restaurants in my lifetime - this is in the top 5 and I cannot decide if it's the best or not, since at that level they are just really, really tops.

Take away a kebab together with a Mango Lassi - best lunch in town. Sit down and eat amongst the bustle on a crowded night out and you will have alot of fun - it's buzzing and the food magnificent, fresh, authentic and you can see exactly how clean the kitchen is through the see-through windows. No hiding dirty kitchens in Lahore.

It's real authentic Pakistani food - curries are tasty, spicy (not necesarilly hotter) and more fulsome than Indiam ones, whilst the meats from the tandoor are exceptional.(Khans of Bayswater is the other Pakistani restaurant in my top 5 - equally good in a different way).

Just a fantastic eating experience 10 out of 10 in every way, from the bustle to the food to the take away - simply brilliant.

It's very busy with good reason.

I live in Southgate and work in Winchmore Hill, but still travel down to E1 to eat here.

(Re the last review - JM from Hornchurch sounds like he's after a "flurry" rather than a curry!)

My wife and I went for the first time last night. Her family being 2 generation Pakistani we were keen to check it out. The food was pretty good but in my opinion a little overpriced and too much ghee. We had 2 starters, 2 main courses and two roti's and were taking away rather than eating in. The meal came to £37 which was excessive in my opinion.
With that said the food was of a much higher standard than any curry house I've been to on Brick Lane.
However if you want to try out food of a similar standard and not overpriced I would suggest going to Tayyabs (on fieldgate street) which I found to be much better value for money and really good.

I love this place, its full of Muscle men wearing tight t-shirts, looking for a good time.
I try to go at least once a month.

I first started to eat here about 18yrs ago. The friends that invited me had eaten there for about 5 years then ! This is a proper curry house, no creamy masala just proper authentic (or as authentic as you can get in england) indian food. Clean, cooked in an open kitchen that you can see, served quickly and cheap, what more do you want. Yes its changed a lot in style as it used to be a 30 seat single ground floor shop and now its enormous, but its still as good as ever.

Not that unusual for me to have a 45mile round trip for a meal here but every single one of my friends love it. Give it a try, rotis and onion salad, minted chops and mixed starter, chicken curry and rice, with a chana daal side, lovely. Take your own booze and have a cheap night out.

I have been eating at the Lahore for the past 13 years. I've watched it grow from a cafe style to the restaurant it is now. The food is fantastic worth the wait. The service is just as good. I would highly recommend this restaurant. If you go between 2 - 5 there is normally no queue so it is a good time to visit. Best curry house in London!!!!!!!!

I went in Sept 2008 with three friends. The food is incredible and it's got a great atmoshere. Just such a shame that the bill was a work of fiction. Really spoilt an otherwise very good restaurant.
