Our free ignite series takes place in the relaxed atmosphere of the Royal Albert Hall's Café Consort and features performances from talented artists, from gypsy jazz to Celtic folk. On Friday 4 April, the Kamao Quintet will perform a programme of hot swinging jazz to the saddest gypsy ballads, the Kamao Quintet perform a range of traditional manouche songs, django reihnardt compositions, original compositions, jazz songs, and brazilian choro music.

Fronted by singer and guitarist Jean de Talhouet, the band includes clarinet (Dave Shulman), gypsy guitars (Dave Kelbie), violin (Sharon Subarrao) and double bass (Ruth Goller), creating a beautiful and rich sound that complements the vocals with haunting and lyrical harmonies. Their repertoire ranges from hot swinging jazz featuring captivating virtuoso improvisations, to the saddest gypsy ballads, the liveliest waltzes, as well as original compositions. They have performed at various venues including The Vortex Jazz Club, Le Quecumbar, the Green Note, St James Theatre.
