Our free ignite series takes place in the relaxed atmosphere of the Royal Albert Hall's Café Consort and features performances from talented artists, from gypsy jazz to Celtic folk. On Friday 25 April, top London jazz and swing band The Sunshine Kings perform a rich mixture of swing, New Orleans, charleston and blues.

Playing trombone, singing and even one or two numbers on chromatic harmonica, Graham Hughes fronts this band of talented musicians playing songs from the early days of jazz.

A rich mixture of swing, New Orleans, charleston and blues, all played with intensity and a sense of fun, The Sunshine Kings brings it all together into a band that makes people of all ages dance, clap, tap toes, and go home with a smile. Great for dancing, great for listening, great for anyone wanting to have a good time. The band’s repertoire is drawn largely from the small group jazz of the 20’s and 30’s with a few other interesting numbers from other eras thrown in to spice things up.

Graham appears as a featured artist at many clubs and festivals around the UK, but with The Sunshine Kings he is able to choose musicians to work with who take the same pleasure in playing music that people enjoy.
