Movimientos presents: Carnival Collective plus Cable Street Collective

Last year Movimientos put together a spectacular combination of legendary Brighton crew Carnival Collective alongside the immaculate Afro-pop of Cable Street Collective - now we couldn't resist pairing them up again for another carnivalesque riot of tropical beats and sweet melodies. Carnival Collective come hot on the heels of their new album release and with a smaller line up that might actually fit on the Hootananny stage this time! And Cable Street Collective make a welcome return ahead of a summer of festivals and sunshine as befits their blissfully catchy sounds. AND .To add extra sabora feminina to open the night we welcome the brand new Cuban dance sounds of the all female Atrevida to get the dance floor moving early. PLUS the original Movimientos DJ selectors on the decks with Latin rhythms, carnival beats and tropical bass.

CARNIVAL COLLECTIVE
Big new sounds from this band of many maestros. These festival favourites play funk, drum and bass, ska, dub with other dance influences - using traditional Brazilian instruments with a banging brass section and smoking vocals. Harmonies and original compositions that capture the sound of a festival generation, and their lyrics have substance as well as style, always a good thang. 'Carnival Collective are an ever evolving and mutating gigantic musical experience, made up of a dynamic group of musicians who raise the temperature, the tempo and the volume at festivals, nightclubs, open-air venues and a myriad of other events.'

CABLE STREET COLLECTIVE
Combining African, Reggae and Blues influences with conscious lyrics, an ear for a catchy tune and a stomping beat, Cable Street Collective make happy tropical tunes that'll keep you frolicking through the night. We'd say the South African Kwela band influence is the strongest, although they've also been said to carry sounds of The Beta Band and Happy Mondays!
