Celebrating its 19th year, the North London Literary Festival is thought to be the longest standing student-run literary festival, bringing together the best of literacy, poetry and playwriting to north London. Keynote speaker this year will be Dame Professor Carol Ann Duffy giving a reading followed by a book signed session, with workshops across the three days from crime novelist Patrick Redmond, a debate on free speech with Christina Patterson, Yasmin Alibhai Brown, Kurt Barling and Eric Heinze and a poet panel featuring Shanta Acharya, Anthony Howell and Fawzi Karim. There will also be an opportunity to delve into the speculative fiction genre with authors Stephanie Saulter and Aliette de Bodard, children’s book publisher Mara Bergman will be there to give expert advice on the children’s publishing industry and Norah Perkins will share her experience at one of the world's leading literary and talent agencies, Curtis Brown, as she talks about what she looks for in potential manuscripts.
