What are the factors that shape what and how we eat? Is our choice of dinner an expression of cultural heritage and social status? Our panel will discuss the influence of advertising, design, nostalgia, family traditions and self-image on culinary choices with moderator Sybil Kapoor.

Panel to include:
- Bee Wilson: food writer, historian and regular contributor to The Guardian, The New York Times and The London Review of Books. Her most recent book, First Bite, explores how our eating habits come to be formed in childhood.

- Olia Hercules: trained chef, food stylist and writer whose highly acclaimed debut book Mamushka takes inspiration from her childhood in Ukraine.

- Patrice De Villiers: one of the world’s most creative and in-demand food photographers, whose Inglorious Fruits + Vegetables campaign for Intermarché won five D&AD design awards in 2015.

- James Lowe: the chef behind Lyle’s in Shoreditch, whose produce-led British food has won considerable plaudits. He was previously head chef at St John Bread + Wine and one of the founders of the Young Turks chef collective.

Moderator: Sybil Kapoor, award winning author and The Fortnum & Mason Food Writer of the year 2015.
