The two-time Grammy Award Winner Guitarist, Arranger & Composer jets in from the US for this two night residency at Pizza Express Jazz Club Dean Street.

Internationally recognised as lead guitarist in Beatle Paul McCartney’s band Wings, Laurence Juber has established himself as a world-renowned guitar virtuoso, composer and arranger. He has released 23 solo albums; the latest is Fingerboard Road, featuring thirteen tunes, mostly from the 1960s and ‘70s, the period when he ‘came of age’ as a musician. LJ Plays The Beatles, was voted one of Acoustic Guitar Magazine’s all-time Top Ten albums.

WEDNESDAY AUGUST 3rd - LAURENCE JUBER DUO - featuring Nicholas Fitch
For the first of his two concerts at Pizza Express Jazz Club, Laurence, a holder of the NYJO guitar chair early in his career, teams up with the young British jazz musician Nicholas Fitch, the current guitarist in the NYJO line up, to play solos and duets. Nicholas has already built a strong reputation as an innovative, creative writer, player and arranger, having recently appeared at London’s Pizza Express Jazz Club with the NYJO Nonet, with his own group at The Pheasantry and as a guest artist with members of the Wynton Marsalis Lincoln Centre Jazz Orchestra at the Barbican.

THURSDAY AUGUST 4th - LAURENCE JUBER TRIO - featuring Arnie Somogyi & Stephen Keogh
Laurence brings together two giants of the U.K. jazz scene to play a wide range of classic jazz and popular music themes. Arnie Somogyi - double bass Arnie is a much-sought after musician, composer, bandleader and a jazz lecturer at Birmingham Conservatoire. He’s performed and recorded on over 40 albums, with a wide variety of leading musicians, from pop legends to renowned jazz artists. “Arnie plays with rhythmic energy, great variety of tone and texture, and enormous charm” - The Observer Stephen Keogh - drums Born in Ireland, Stephen followed his studies there in London and New York. He played as percussionist with the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland, contemporary music ensembles and many visiting jazz artists. Stephen has worked all over the world with many great musicians and is well known for his versatility and accompanying skills as the drummer of choice for numerous jazz legends from the US.
