Previously construed as being associated purely with dull as dishwater school shoes and hence labelled as deeply uncool, Clarks has had something of a reinvention in recent seasons and, dare I say it, now seems to be producing some damn nice footwear. With retail guru Mary Portas on board collaborating on a collection, the British institution does appear to be taking a step in a more stylish direction.
During a recent perusal of Oxford Street's windows I noticed these pretties shimmering from within and calling my name. Hark, gold leather? In Clarks? I know right? Yes my friends, your eyes aren't deceiving you. The Bodkin Bay in sublte antique, almost rose gold leather is a gleaming testament to Clarks' new look. So terribly chic. I think I may need to invest in a pair for spring, the perfect combination of smart and casual, slick and glam without being to OTT for work and with just the right height to make them comfortable as well as practical. Clarks, I applaud you.
