With less than two weeks until the clocks go forward once again, my thoughts are most certainly turning to summertime. As well as the standard need to join a gym/start shaving my legs again/think about regular pedicures lest my goblin trotters get caught unawares by a sunny sandal day, one’s summer wardrobe is obviously at the forefront of one’s mind.
It’s not just my clothes that are in need of an overhaul, with an accessories collection that either seems to be half lost or half broken there are several new pieces I need to invest in this season, including a watch. My current model, whilst lovely, is not only rather scuffed and scratched these days, but has in the past proven to be just too big and chunky for summer, resulting in that delightful affliction of sweaty wrist. Nice.
Luckily 160 year-old watchmaking legends Timex have a sterling SS16 collection from which I’m sure to find a favourite. From delicate feminine shapes to the bold stripes of the new Weekender Fairfield collection, I’m having a hard time choosing a favourite.
The gold Easy Reader (£49.99) is sure to look amazing with a tan, a real contender for the number one spot. Though having said that, the brown leather strap version (£49.99) is also rather chic. From the new Weekender Fairfield collection, I’m particularly taken with the tan leather strap (£59.99), with a delicate rose gold-trimmed face, not to mention the bold blue and white nautical stripe version (pictured, £59.99).
Is it too much to have four new watches for one season, or a totally acceptable indulgence? With four Timex watches adding up to the price of one from previous favourite Michael Kors, I might just have to…
