TASTE ON TRIAL - GOOD IN BREAD

Love London

Finding a wonderful local bakery is one of life's great pleasures, but for those Londoners who aren't lucky enough to have one nearby, Good in Bread is the name you need to know.

The subscription service has partnered with artisan bakery Sciascia Storey that brings superior artisanal bread to the capital’s foodies.  The bakery's co-founder, Julian Sciascia, has been in the trade for almost 20 years and now Good In Bread delivers fresh from the oven loaves by bicycle across London on Tuesdays and Friday, either sliced to be letterbox friendly or whole.

Customers can choose from the online bakery, with loaves such as Sweet Potato Sourdough, Fruit and Spice 'Winter Wonderbread' and 'Nutty But Nice' Hazelnut and Cranberry Loaf, or sign up to an online subscription delivering once or twice a week. Good in Bread's sorudough loaves are handcrafted in a west London bakehouse using artisan sourdough starters, slow fermentation and the best organic flours, to give it a unique and delicious aroma, texture and character.

We tried it out last week, with a delivery of the sourdough loaf of the week, the white 'Country True Loaf', along with the Multigrain Tin 'Loaf at First Sight'. Arriving in eco-friendly materials and recyclable packaging, the loaves come complete with a re-usable linen loaf bag. Fresh that morning, they smelt incredible and tasted even better. Fresh, crisp, perfectly baked, a real treat and each needed nothing more than a slathering of butter for the perfect snack. There's still some in the freezer, I'm saving it for a weekend treat.

While hand-delivered artisan loaves are understandably going to set you back more than your supermarketloaf (loaf prices start from £6.50), if you're big on bread it's a delicious indulgence.

Prices: Bundles from £15.00
Loaf Of The Week, once a week from £6.50
3-month subscription £84.00 and 6-month subscription £168.00
